Web3D Consortium & Threedy

The Web3D Consortium, founded in 1997, is a non-profit, member-funded, industry standards development organization. The main goal is to develop and maintain royalty-free ISO standards for web-based 3D graphics (e.g. X3D and VRML)

Many individuals of the Threedy team have a strong and personal relationship with the Web3d Consortium since many years. The large number of ACM-linked publications and presentations at the annual international conferences and contributions to the X3DOM system strengthen the relationship.

Threedy joined the web3D Consortium to contribute to the open 3D standards with the goal to improve 3D data virtualisation, provisioning and automation for instant3Dhub applications and services.
